Overview

Flames, smoke, gas emissions, heat – fire has many facets. Minimax has the right fire detectors for all areas within a hospital. Their signals converge in the fire detection and extinguishing control panel, which issues an alarm to the people at risk and the fire brigade. In addition, the Minimax panel monitors the installed fire protection system for proper functioning and electrically triggers the extinguishing systems that are not equipped with their own triggering elements, e.g. sprinkler systems.

A sprinkler system ensures overall building protection in a hospital. Minimax offers a broad range of sprinkler types and special sprinklers that allow for ideal adaptation of the sprinkler system to the respective installation situation in the various protected areas.

Areas with special fire risks or deployment conditions require - either in addition to or instead of the sprinkler system - a tailored volume or local protection system. Minifog ProCon water mist extinguishing systems are triggered by a fire detection system that uses UniVario flame or heat detectors to detect fires.

    Fire Protection

    The sprinkler systems used for the protection of buildings also protect operating theaters and treatment rooms. Using Preaction sprinklers provides double protection. The extinguishing process starts only when both sprinklers open. In this way, areas with high-quality technical systems can be protected against unwanted water leakage and damage.

  5. Transformers

    Transformers make sure that electricity is ready for network distribution. They function as links between the turbine, the turbine generators and the network. They consist typically of the transformer housing with a cooler, oil conservators and oil-filled insulators.

    Fire Protection

    As soon as overheating is detected, the transformer is automatically shut down to prevent a fire from breaking out. The basis for the fire protection is a Buchholz relay. This relay ensures prompt identification of cooling required for components at risk of overheating. The TrafoProtect solution developed by Minimax based on the latest research results, protection aims and testing schemes completes the concept. The special UL-approved nozzles, Viking Model A and Model C-1, achieve an even and consistent distribution of water when activated. In doing so, the system successfully meets the protection aims of "control" and "suppression". At the same time, the consumption of water can be reduced to a level significantly below that of conventional deluge systems. A fire detection system will trigger the extinguishing system.

    Large quantities of different types of packaging waste are often collected in separate recycling and waste collection areas. Cardboard and trash compactors reduce the storage volume. In addition, waste is also stored in containers in outside areas.

    Fire Protection

    The sprinkler systems used for the protection of buildings effectively combat fires also in the case of burning organic waste and packaging materials. Outdoor areas can be included in the protection range, in which case a dry system or, alternatively, Minimax PipeGuard Antifreeze prevents freezing of the extinguishing water and protects against possible frost damage. If large quantities are stored, a deluge system with open nozzles should rather be selected. This system is triggered by a fire detection system with UniVario industrial smoke detectors.

    No gastronomy area can do without a kitchen. Food is generally prepared directly on site in kitchens of varying dimensions. This is where foods are prepared, cooked and often kept warm until served.

Fire detection and triggering of the water mist extinguishing system in cabling areas is done through fire detection systems with optical smoke detectors.

The irretrievable loss of this data through a fire may have considerable economic consequences for productivity or even the future of a company.
